Topic: Doing Business in Burkina Faso

Host: U.S. Ambassador to Burkina Faso Tulinabo Mushingi

Date, time, time zone for call: Wednesday, December 18, 2013; 9:00 a.m. EST (2:00 p.m. GMT)

Deadline for RSVPs: Friday, December 13, 2013

Brief description of call: Burkina Faso stands at the crossroads of the Sahel region and its recent economic growth, averaging 7% the past four years, bears witness to a stable government and relatively open economy. Agriculture and mining are mainstays and some U.S. companies have seen successes in these sectors, particularly with cotton and oilseeds. Burkina Faso’s infrastructure needs are enormous and also present opportunities, especially in telecommunications where the government seeks plans for the construction of an ICT “backbone.”

Ambassador Mushingi will host the call and provide an introduction, which will be followed by an interactive question and answer session. Participants will include Deputy Chief of Mission Steven Koutsis and USAID Representative Jim Parys.
