Brief description of call: In response to the Government of Burma’s ongoing reform efforts, the United States has eased certain financial and trade sanctions on Burma and is encouraging responsible investment in the country. Ambassador Mitchell will host this Direct Line call to discuss the implications of our revised sanctions policy for U.S. companies and describe opportunities for U.S. investment. He will be joined by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Counter Threat Finance & Sanctions Peter Harrell and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Baer from the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.
