Topic: Doing Business in the Energy Sector in Libya

Host: Ambassador Deborah K. Jones

Date, time, time zone for call: Tuesday, May 6, 2014; 10:00 a.m. EDT (4:00 p.m. in Tripoli, Libya)

Brief Description of call: Ambassador Jones will provide an update on the energy sector in Libya, including the inchoate deal to open oil terminals in eastern Libya. She will also speak to developments in Libya’s security situation, impacting the refinery at Zawiya, the pipeline supplying Mellitah, and the El Sharara field. Domestic energy contracts with the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) are among the leading fields where post-Revolution contracts have been signed and for which work has begun. Given Libya’s major oil and gas investment needs, there are significant opportunities for U.S. firms. Following the Ambassador’s presentation, Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in the Q & A portion of the Direct Line call. The Direct Line call will be a teleconference only, so companies can dial in from their location. This call will take place for 75 minutes.
