U.S.-Sri Lanka Dip Notes Cancelling Annex III of September 6, 2006

The Embassy ofthe United States ofAmerica presents its compliments to the Ministry ofForeign Affairs ofthe Democratic Socialist Republic ofSri Lanka and takes this opportunity to refer the Ministry ofForeign Affairs to the Air Transport Agreement between the Government ofthe United States ofAmerica and the Government ofthe Democratic Socialist Republic ofSri Lanka, signed at Washington D.C. on June 11,2002 ("Agreement").

In light ofthe recent correspondence between the two governments concerning removal from the Agreement ofprovisions relating to regulation of computer reservation systems, the Embassy proposes that Annex 3 ofthe Agreement, entitled Principles ofNon-Discrimination Within and Competition Among Computer Reservations Systems, be deleted. Ifthe Ministry concurs with this pro'posa!, the Embassy further proposes that this note and the Ministry's affmnative note in reply shall constitute an agreement on this subject which shall enter into force on the date ofthe Ministry's note in reply.

 The Embassy takes this opportunity to renew to the Ministry ofForeign Affairs ofthe Democratic Socialist Republic ofSri Lanka the assurances of its highest consideration.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America and has the honour to refer to its Note No. 420 of 6th September 2006, concerning the removal of Annex 3 of the AgreeIPent relating to Principles of Non-Discrimination Within and Competition Among Computer Reservations Systems, from the Air Transport Agreement between the Govermnents of Sri Lanka and the United States of America signed on 11 June 2002,in Washington D.C., which stated as follows;

"The Embassy of the United States of America presents its compliments to the Minislry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and takes this opportunity to refer the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Air Transport Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka., signed at Washington D.C. on June 11,2002 (Agreement").

The Ministry wishes to confirm to the Embassy of the United States of America that the above proposal to remove Annex 3 of the Agreement relating to Principles of NonDiscrimination Within and Competition Among Computer Reservation Systems from the Air Transport Agreement between the Governments of Sri Lanka and the United States of America signed 11 til June 2002 in Washington :p.e, is acceptable to the Aviation Authorities of Sri Lanka

Accordingly, the Embassy's Note No. 420 of 6th August 2006, and this Note in response shall constitute an Agreeme11:t on this subject between the Governments of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the United States of America, which shall enter into force all the date ofthis note in reply.  

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the United States of America the assurances ofits highest consideration.
