About the Office of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Trade
The Office of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Textile Trade Affairs (ABT) is part of the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. ABT works to advance the State Department’s critical global trade and food security goals by:

Advocating for transparent, science-based regulatory systems,

Supporting harmonization of international standards,

Participating in the Food Assistance Convention which coordinates the international response to emergency food situations,

Challenging unjustified barriers to agricultural trade, and

Promoting open trade of staple food commodities.
