Foreign Sales Corporation (FSC) Legislation

Press release issued by Office of the U.S. Trade Representative
Executive Office of the President
Washington, DC
July 12, 2002

U.S. Trade Representative Robert B. Zoellick today issued the following statement regarding tax legislation in the House of Representatives related to the Foreign Sales Corporation (FSC) issue:

"Introduction of legislation that would bring the United States into compliance with the WTO findings in the FSC dispute is a very important step. I appreciate Chairman Thomas' leadership on this issue and hope that compliance with our international obligations will enjoy strong bipartisan support. I look forward to working with Chairmen Thomas and Baucus, as well as others from both parties, to that end. As the world's leading exporter, the United States has a strong interest in meeting these obligations."
