Call for Nominations for the Partnership for Prosperity Good Partner Award

[En Espanol]

Released by the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs
September 24, 2003
updated August 10,2004

The call for nominations for the 2005 Good Partner Award was announced on June 29, 2004, at the conclusion of the inaugural Good Partner Award Ceremony and Gala as part of the U.S.-Mexico Partnership for Prosperity business event in Guadalajara, Mexico. The deadline for nominations for the 2005 Good Partner Award is October 30, 2004.

Background
The Good Partner Award was launched under the auspices of the U.S.-Mexico Partnership for Prosperity initiative, announced by Presidents Bush and Fox in September 2001. The goal of the Partnership is to boost the well being of Mexican citizens in regions where economic growth has lagged while helping U.S. firms and suppliers identify new partners and markets in Mexico. The Good Partner Award recognizes the role of the private sector in both countries in advancing social and economic development in Mexico. It honors exemplary efforts of the U.S. and Mexican enterprises and institutions, both large and small, in the furtherance of the goals of the Partnership for Prosperity.

Nomination and Application Process

The deadline for nominations for the 2005 Good Partner Award is October 30, 2004. Nominations will be accepted from the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, the Mexican Embassy in the United States and individual enterprises and institutions.

  • Community development, including but not limited to: educational and vocational, environmental programs, development of community infrastructure, healthcare, philanthropy, and volunteerism

Selection
Selections will be made by the Partnership for Prosperity Principals’ Award Selection Committee in the late fall.  Awards will be made to at least one U.S. enterprise or institution, and one Mexican enterprise or institution.  The Good Partner Awards will be presented to both the U.S. and Mexican winners by senior officials of both governments in a public ceremony near the end of the calendar year, possibly in conjunction with the Binational Commission Meetings.  The event will be open to the media and include invited dignitaries from both nations.
