| Intellectual Property Rights TrainingWorking with the State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs' Office of Intellectual Property Enforcement (IPE) spearheads efforts to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to protect intellectual property rights (IPR) around the world and to develop and implement training and technical assistance programs for IPR enforcement and Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Agreement (TRIPS) implementation. Anti-piracy efforts include assisting foreign governments in drafting copyright legislation, training foreign officials charged with enforcing laws to combat piracy, assisting judicial officials in prosecuting IPR violators, disseminating information on the prevalence and repercussions of piracy, and supporting public awareness campaigns and educational efforts. In this effort, IPE enlists resources from other agencies such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Commerce Department's Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the private sector. IPE staffs the State Department's participation in the National Intellectual Property Law Enforcement Coordination Council (NIPLECC) and coordinates U.S. IPR Training and technical assistance worldwide as the chair of the joint public/private sector training Coordination Group; additionally IPC designs, administers, and maintains the Internet-enabled database of U.S.-provided IPR training at www.training.ipr.gov.
