DRL supports the Internews-Jordan International Journalism and Media Management Training Program (IJMMT) with the Human Rights Democracy Fund (HRDF). The IJMMT program has two primary components: The creation of a student-run, university-based community radio station at Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan and the creation of a Radio Production Unit followed by a full youth-run community radio station in partnership with Princess Basma’s Youth Resource Center. Western Kentucky University is Internews Network’s U.S. partner for this program’s implementation. To date, 103 students have been trained at Yarmouk FM (YFM), 16 of whom received intensive training on the live coverage of nation-wide events such as the parliamentary elections in November 2007 and one of which received intensive training on news editing and is now a trainer at YFM in this area.
