Clark, Lawrence E.BIOGRAPHY Lawrence E. Clark Currently, Mr. Clark is the Deputy Chief for Science and Technology for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), U.S. Department of Agriculture, in Washington, DC. He serves on the U.S./South Africa Binational Commission and the U.S./Ghana Consultative Committee on Agricultural and Rural Development. Most recently he was Deputy Chief for Programs for NRCS, and served for two years as State Conservationist for Ohio. Mr. Clark has held numerous positions with NRCS in Ohio; Indiana; Washington, DC; Oregon, Arizona, and North Carolina. Among his many credits, Mr. Clark was principal author of a National Natural Resources Policy for The Gambia; co-chaired the Soil Conservation Service Work Force Diversity Initiative; and has been a Total Quality Management Coordinator and Facilitator. He consulted with China, Australia, South Africa, Togo, Nigeria, The Gambia, and Ghana on natural resource issues through USAID and the Foreign Agricultural Service. He is a Ford Foundation Fellow and is a Certified Environmental Professional. Mr. Clark holds a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and has earned Master’s Degrees in Public Administration from the J.F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and in Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina. He is a deacon and Sunday school teacher, enjoys carpentry, and collects domestically produced wines and pottery. |
