Dr. Wood is Deputy Assistant Secretary for Analysis and Information Management, Bureau of Intelligence and Research, U.S. Department of State. He oversees the work of offices covering Global Issues and African Affairs, as well as those providing information management for the bureau and geographic information systems and imagery services for the Department. Dr. Wood also serves as Geographer for the Department of State.
