United States and Rwanda Sign Joint Declaration Regarding Science and Technology Cooperation

Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans, Environment, and Science Claudia Assistant Secretary McMurray and Rwandan Science Minister, Dr. Murenzi [State Dept Photo]McMurray and Rwandan Science Minister, Dr. Murenzi signed a non-binding Joint Declaration regarding Science and Technology cooperation between the United States and Rwanda at the U.S. Embassy in Kigali, February 13, 2007. The Joint Declaration lays the foundation for science and technology partnerships, research projects, and capacity building opportunities.

U.S. S&T collaboration with Rwanda already exists in several science disciplines such as telemedicine, biodiversity and environment projects. Under this new agreement, we will work with Rwandan officials to provide capacity and technical exchanges on a broad range of issues, including alternative energy, water and sanitation, and soil conservation.
