The first pie chart shows the relationship between domestic and international U.S. Government anti-trafficking in persons obligated project funding for fiscal year 2005. There were 92 projects obligated for domestic anti-trafficking in persons projects in fiscal year 2005, representing 21% of the total in the amount of $25,217,943. There were 266 projects obligated for international anti-trafficking in persons projects in 101 countries in fiscal year 2005, representing 79% of the total in the amount of $94,652,580. Overall funding totaled $119,870,523. This is an increase of 16% in international projects funding over FY 2004 and a 27% increase in international projects funding over FY 2003. Domestically, this represents a 25% increase in project funding over FY 2004.

U.S. Government Anti-Trafficking in Persons Obligated International Project Funding by Region (Fiscal Year 2005)

This pie chart shows the fiscal year 2005 anti-trafficking in persons international project funding broken down by region and percentage: 29% of all projects were obligated in the Western Hemisphere; 25% in Africa; 1% in the Near East; 11% in East Asia and the Pacific; 15% in Europe and Eurasia; 14% in South Asia; and, 4% of all international anti-TIP projects were global in nature.

U.S. Government Agency Obligations for Anti-Trafficking in Persons Projects (Fiscal Year 2005)

Several agencies of the U.S. Governmental fund anti-trafficking in persons projects. This pie chart shows the breakdown in funding by U.S. Government agency. The breakdown is as follows: 31% from the Department of Labor; 29% from the Department of State; 8% from Health and Human Services; 18% from the United States Agency for International Development; and, 14% from the Department of Justice. This percentage includes all anti-trafficking in persons obligations for both domestic and international projects.

U.S. Government Anti-Trafficking in Persons Obligated Project Funding by Type of Trafficking (Fiscal Year 2005)

U.S. Government anti-trafficking in persons projects often focus on combating a particular type of trafficking. This last pie chart depicts U.S. Government anti-trafficking in persons project funding by type of trafficking. Thirty percent of all project funding focused on combating sex trafficking; 4% focused on labor trafficking; 65% focused on both labor trafficking and sex trafficking; and, 1% of project funding was not distinguishable as to the type of trafficking it was combating. This pie chart shows that a majority of TIP projects cover both labor and sex trafficking.

This table depicts the number of U.S. Government anti-trafficking in persons projects by region and tier rating according to the 2005 Trafficking in Persons Report. Overall, 11 projects were administered in countries given a tier one rating, 164 were administered in countries given a tier two rating, 89 were administered in countries receiving a tier two-watch list rating, 19 were administered in countries receiving a tier three rating, and 15 projects were administered in countries that were not rated in the 2005 Trafficking in Persons Report. Seventy-eight projects were obligated in Africa, 37 in East Asia and the Pacific, 41 in South Asia, 64 in Europe and Eurasia, 61 in the Western Hemisphere, 10 in the Middle East and North Africa, and seven projects were global in nature. Additionally, funds for 92 domestic anti-trafficking in persons projects were obligated in fiscal year 2005.
