Media Advisory: Afghan Women's Delegation to Meet with State Leaders

ANNAPOLIS – On Monday, March 6, the Office of the Secretary of State will host six Afghan women and five U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Department of State officials to engage in dialogue about government and tour state facilities.

The delegation is comprised of elected legislative officials from both the Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of Parliament, and the Meshrano Jirga or the Upper House of Parliament in Afghanistan.

During their visit the women will be introduced at the Senate session that evening; they will also participate discussions with Maryland women legislators, tour the State House, and attend legislative receptions.

Proposed Itinerary: Monday, March 6, 2006

5:45 p.m. Tour of State House

6:15 p.m. Meetings with Maryland Women Legislators
