Assistant Secretary of State Rick Barton and his leadership team head up the four organizational pillars that make up the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO).
The Bureau’s primary mission is to advance U.S. national security by driving integrated, civilian-led efforts to prevent, respond to, and stabilize crises in priority states, setting conditions for long-term peace. We promote:
CSO builds upon the lessons of its predecessor organization, the Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization.
