Augustin Bizimana has been indicted for genocide, crimes against humanity, and other serious violations of international humanitarian law. He is accused of preparing and planning for the Rwandan genocide from late 1990 until July 1994, including fostering hatred and ethnic violence, training and distributing weapons to militiamen, and preparing lists of people to be exterminated. During the genocide, Bizimana was Minster of Defense in the interim Rwandan government. He controlled the Rwandan Armed Forces (FAR).
To bring Bizimana to justice, the United States Government is offering a reward to individuals who furnish information leading to his arrest, transfer, or conviction.
