Aloys Ndimbati has been indicted for genocide and crimes against humanity. He was the Bourgmestre (mayor) of the Gisovu commune in the Kibuye Prefecture. Ndimbati is accused of conspiring to kill Tutsis in the Kibuye Prefecture and being directly involved in massacres that took place in the area of Bisesero between April and June 1994. Ndimbati is accused of acting in concert with other extremist leaders to bring to Bisesero members of the Gendarmerie nationale, communal police, the Interahamwe, and armed civilians and directing them to kill Tutsis. Ndimbati also directly participated in the massacres.
To bring Ndimbati to justice, the United States Government is offering a reward to individuals who furnish information leading to his arrest, transfer, or conviction. All information regarding the identity of any informant will be kept strictly confidential.
