The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs' Office of Iraq (INL/I) is an integral player in the U.S. Government’s efforts to help the Government of Iraq and the Iraqi people to promote security, stability, and respect for the rule of law in Iraq. Through lessons learned in missions all over the world, the Bureau has developed significant criminal justice development experience in post-conflict environments over the last two decades. INL will draw upon this expertise as it moves forward with an Iraq program of unprecedented size and scope. Partnering with other U.S. Government agencies and international donors, INL is supplying expertise to strengthen and expand the capacities of Iraq’s police, courts, judiciary, and corrections institutions.
