Ambassador David Robinson is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and is currently the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration. He previously served as U.S. Ambassador to Guyana from 2006-2008, Deputy Chief of Mission in La Paz, Bolivia from 2003-2006, and Deputy Chief of Mission in Asuncion, Paraguay from 2000-2003. Other overseas postings included the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Iceland. In addition, he has served in a number of positions at the State Department in Washington, including as Special Coordinator for Venezuela policy.

 Ambassador Robinson was born in Hartford, CT and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame. He also holds masters degrees in theology and national security strategy.
