The American School Foundation of Guadalajara, A.C. is a private, coeducational school which offers an educational program from nursery and prekindergarten to grade 12. The school was originally founded in 1908 and reestablished as a not-for-profit organization in 1956. The mission of the school is to educate students in a bilingual, bicultural and secular environment to be purposeful learners, critical and creative thinkers, effective communicators and community contributors based on a foundation of honor, freedom, and commitment. The school year extends from approximately August 20 to June 26.

Organization: The school is governed by an 18-member Board of Directors appointed for terms of 1 to 3 years by the American School Board of Trustees, the sponsor of the School. The School is incorporated and has tax-exempt status in Mexico and in the State of Delaware.

Curriculum: The curriculum is that of U.S. general academic and college-preparatory public schools and various official Mexican programs. Instruction is in English and Spanish. The School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, (SACS, CASI/AdvancED) the Ministry of Education of Mexico, and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. 98 percent of graduates go on to colleges and universities in the United States, Mexico and internationally. The School offers limited support services for students with minor learning disabilities through 9th grade. Honors and Advanced Placement classes are offered at the high school level.

Faculty: In the 2011-2012 school year, there are 183 full-time faculty members.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year, enrollment was 1,442 (N-grade 4: 770; grades 5-8: 410; grades 9-12: 264). 

Facilities: The school owns its own property (approximately 6 acres). There are 93 classrooms, 6 science laboratories, 5 media centers, 3 art rooms, 3 music rooms, 4 computer laboratories, an administrative building, an auditorium, an infirmary, 2 cafeterias, a multipurpose gymnasium, 2 section playgrounds, 2 sports areas, and a heated swimming pool.

Finances: In the 2011-2012 school year annual tuition rates are as follows: N/PK-Kdg.: $4,760; grades P1-6: $5,955; grades 7-9: $6,940 and grades 10-12: $7,075. In addition, there is an annual registration fee of $3,025 and an admission fee for all new students as follows: N/PK/Kdg.-grade 6: $3,845; and grades 7-12: $1,925.
