Colegio Internacional de Carabobo is a private, coeducational day school which offers an educational program from nursery through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school year comprises 2 semesters extending from August 11, 2008 to June 05, 2009.
Organization: The School is a nonprofit entity. The School is governed by a 7-member Board of Education elected annually by the members, and administered by a director, a secondary principal, and an elementary school principal.
Curriculum: The School's curriculum is that of a U.S. college-preparatory program. The central mission of the School is to maintain the highest standards for all of its students. High school electives are limited due to the scope of the School's enrollment. All courses in the elementary and secondary schools are predicated upon optimum basic development in reading, writing, computation, and thinking skills. The School is registered by the Venezuelan Ministry of Education and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Faculty: In the 2008-2009 school year, there are 63 full-time and 9 part-time/associate faculty members, including 25 U.S. citizens, 41 host-country nationals, and 6 third-country nationals.
Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year, enrollment was 438 (nursery-grade 5: 230; grades 6-8: 109; and grades 9-12: 99). Of the total, 40 were U.S. citizens, 336 were host-country nationals, and 62 third-country nationals, representing other countries.
Facilities: The beautiful and well-maintained landscaped 19-acre campus, located at the base of a mountainous slope overlooking the city of Valencia, is divided into 2 sectors. The lower elementary sector is comprised of 32 classrooms, a library, auditorium, English-as-a-Second-Language center, art studio, physical education facilities, and administrative offices. The upper high school sector is comprised of 29 classrooms, a library/media center, cafeteria, sports area, and administrative offices. The 2 divisions share 2 sports fields and a covered recreational/gymnasium center.
Finances: In the 2008-2009 school year, the School's income derives from tuition and corporate assessments. Annual tuition rates are as follows: nursery: $8,493; Jr. Kinder $21,320; Kdg.: $24,671; grades 1-8: $28,021; and grades 9-12: $31,307. (All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.)
