CANDIDATE: Jane Dorothy Hartley
Jane Hartley, currently the Chief Executive Officer of Observatory Group, LLC in New York City and a Member of the Board of Directors of Heidrick and Struggles in Chicago, has been the CEO of macroeconomic and political advisory firms for the past two decades. She is known for her critical analyses of the G7 countries and her depth of knowledge of French political and economic policies. A vibrant, experienced leader, Ms. Hartley will bring key skills to the task of furthering bilateral relations with the Government of France, a critical U.S. ally in the European Union and around the globe.
Previously, Ms. Hartley served as Chief Executive Officer, G7 Group in New York (1994-2007), Vice President and Station Manager, WWOR-TV, Secaucus, New Jersey (1987-1989), Vice President of Marketing, MCA Broadcasting (Universal) in New York (1985-1987), Vice President of Corporate Communications, Westinghouse Broadcasting in New York (1983-1985), Vice President, New Markets Development, Group W Cable in New York (1981-1983), Associate Assistant to the President, Office of Public Liaison, The White House (1978-1981), Director of Congressional Relations, Department of Housing and Urban Development (1977-1978), and Executive Director, Democratic Mayor’s Conference, Democratic National Committee (1974-1977). Her impressive community service record includes Member, Board of Directors, Corporation for National and Community Service, Washington, D.C. (2012-Present), Former Vice-Chairman and Member, Board of Trustees, Economic Club of New York (ECYN) in New York (2007-2013) , Member, Executive Committee , Harvard Kennedy School of Government, (2010-Present), Member, Boards of Overseers and Managers, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York (2010-Present), Member, Board of Trustees, Sesame Workshop in New York (2003-2013), and Member, Council on Foreign Relations in New York (2002-Present). She also served as a Director of Parsons School of Design and the New School, and as a Trustee of the Nightingale-Bamford School, and was on the President’s Leadership Council of Dartmouth College, the Wall Street Council and the Women’s Council of Boston College.
Ms. Hartley earned a B.A. at Boston College (Newton College). She speaks conversational French.
