PRO-telligent, LLC is seeking a full-time contractor to work in the Family Liaison Office (FLO) of the State Department to serve as Program Specialist to the Education and Youth Officer in FLO. The Education and Youth Officer provides guidance and referral to employees and their family members on issues related to education and youth in the Foreign Service, including transition, re-entry, Washington area schools, special needs, boarding school referral, overseas assignment, allowances, standardized testing, college admissions, financial aid, and distance learning. The Education and Youth Officer coordinates with Department offices who provide specialized services, such as the Office of Overseas Schools, the Employee Consultation Service, MED, Allowances, Transition Center at OBC, and HR. The Education and Youth Officer also serves as liaison to the Foreign Service Youth Foundation and Diplotots.
This position reports to the Education and Youth Officer, and the incumbent will assist the Education and Youth Officer in:
A. Providing services, information and referral in the areas of education and youth to Foreign Service employees and their families.
B. Creating and maintaining statistical records and databases depending on program needs.
C. Analyzing data, regulations and allowances related to education, travel of dependent children, medical evacuation of dependent children for educational and/or psychological evaluation, separate maintenance, unaccompanied tours, and education during evacuation.
D. Identifying and researching topics of interest and periodically writing articles and news briefs for Family Liaison Office publications. Assist with keeping FLO Education and Youth web pages current.
E. Producing and preparing briefing materials and conducting briefings for the Education and Youth portfolio, as needed.
F. Maintaining resource files relevant to the target program and carry out bibliographic and internet research as requested.
G. Clerical support including preparing cables and Department Notices, as well as formatting and editing documents.
Qualifications:
US Citizen family members, including members of household, with a minimum 3 years of experience living in a Foreign Service community abroad. Excellent customer service skills including ability to deal appropriately with individuals under stress. Possess good judgment and analytical skills. Understand and practice client confidentiality. Eager to provide administrative support to the program at a professional level. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Database. Strong written communication skills including ability to format letters, cables, email messages, and to edit for spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Experience in giving presentations and briefings considered a plus. Must be able to handle multiple tasks under time constraints, prioritizing appropriately; A team player; positive, energetic and used to working in a fast-paced work environment.
