Family Member Employment

  • The Bureau of Consular Affairs has developed a new FMA opportunity: the Professional Adjudication Specialist (PAS) Program. The PAS program will allow qualified Eligible Family Members (EFMs) to receive visa and passport adjudication training and authority and provide adjudication services in consular sections overseas. Read more
  • AFSA is looking at an issue related to tax provisions that impact Foreign Service family members employed in the private sector abroad. The Foreign Earned Income Exclusion allows citizens, who are not government employees and are living outside the U.S. , to exclude some of their foreign-source income if they meet certain requirements. Changes to the way the exclusion is calculated may impact family members working overseas on the local economy. Read more
