The Employee Consultation Service has a staff of psychiatric social workers.  They offer consultation, evaluation, and referral services to families of U.S. government employees assigned to diplomatic posts abroad who have school-aged children with learning, emotional, or other disabilities. Walk-ins are welcome, or you may schedule an appointment.

In order for your child to receive the Special Education Needs Allowance from the U.S. Department of State, the request must be approved by the Employee Consultation Service.  Please read Special Needs - Guidelines for Evaluating Children with Learning Disabilities or Developmental Delays and FAQ's about the Special Needs Allowance, prepared by the Employee Consultation Service.

For more information on the process, please contact FLO's Education and Youth Officer.
