Child Care at Post
The availability of child care centers overseas varies greatly, as does the quality and cost of caregivers in the home. The Community Liaison Office publishes an annual Overseas Child Care Report which gives a brief description of the resources available post by post. The intranet provides Child Care Reports submitted by CLO Coordinators for each post. Employees can access these reports on the Department’s intranet site, click through the following links: Bureau of Human Resources (HR Portal) > Workforce > Family Services > Overseas Childcare Reports. If there is not a child care report listed, please check with the CLO by emailing them at CLOcityname@state.gov – for example: CLOLima@state.gov
Office of Overseas Schools – provides a listing of at-post schools which may have Pre-K programs available. Please visit their website for Schools by Region (only State Department assisted schools) on the Office Overseas Schools website. In addition, there is also a Worldwide School Search available through the Office of Overseas Schools – this includes all schools that are assisted and not assisted by the State Department.
