Barry Moore
Assistant Director, Domestic Operations

Barry Moore was named Assistant Director for Domestic Operations on July 22, 2010. In this capacity, Mr. Moore is responsible for managing and directing almost all Diplomatic Security (DS) activities within the Continental United States, including all DS field offices, criminal investigations, counterintelligence, and protection operations.

Prior to his assignment as Assistant Director for Domestic Operations, Barry Moore served as Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China, from August 2007 until July of 2010. He served as acting Director for Diplomatic Security’s Office of Investigations and Counterintelligence in Arlington, Virginia prior to his transfer to Beijing.

Earlier in his career, Assistant Director Moore served in U.S. embassies in Lima, Peru, Brasilia, Brazil and as the Regional Security Officer in Quito, Ecuador. He also served for two years in the Dallas Field Office. In Washington he was the Executive Assistant to then-Assistant Secretary for Diplomatic Security Francis Taylor (2002).

Mr. Moore also served as Chief of the Counterintelligence Division for two years (2005-2006).

Assistant Director Moore attended Austin College where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Business in 1984. In 2004, Mr. Moore obtained a Master's degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Ft. Leslie McNair, Washington D.C.. His languages include Spanish, Portuguese, Serbo-Croatian and Mandarin Chinese.
