Request and pick up airline tickets. Make sure passports and visas are in order. Place these items in a safe place (especially during move days when packers may be in your home).
Send an e-mail to the Management Officer at your assigned post detailing your travel itinerary, including en route stops, arrival date and time, airline carrier, and number of family members accompanying you. If you are traveling with excess baggage and/or a pet , it is also advisable to alert post so the appropriate size vehicle can meet you. Also confirm with post your shipping dates for unaccompanied air baggage (UAB), household effects (HHE) and automobile.
If you are traveling with or shipping a pet, double check the arrangements and make sure that you have a back-up plan in case of unexpected changes. Verify that you have completed all pet entry requirements.
