Family member employment continues to be one of the most challenging issues for Foreign Service families. Come to this class and learn about various portable career options, adaptive skills of individuals who have been successful in portable careers, applicable regulations, and types of business structures to consider when contemplating entrepreneurship. This one-day presentation will include specific “how-tos” on starting a portable career, including EFM-led sessions by two who have been successful in pursuing a portable career while living abroad.
"I thought there was a lot of great information and was very respectful of spouses/partners in taking the time to come up with creative ways to have a professional life. The energy in the room was very creative and positive which to me was a big plus. It was good to network with interesting people."
"I was inspired by the presenters and enjoyed the encouragement to think outside the box especially regarding the skills, experiences, and hobbies I already have. I had a few 'aha' moments when I felt, 'I could do that!' So thank you!"
"I appreciated the resources shared and was open to analyze different new avenues (opportunities) for my future. Courses like this are incredible tools that make our community BETTER. Please keep it on, and add more if possible."
