Personal Post Insights

Personal Post Insights (PPI) are among the Overseas Briefing Center's most popular resources, featuring straightforward opinions on housing, schools, cars, special advantages of post, pre-arrival shopping advice, and much more.

Those with State Department intranet access can fill out the questionnaire online. Go to the OBC website (http://fsi.state.gov/fsi/tc) and click on "Personal Post Insights" from the left menu.

For those without intranet access, download the survey, answer the questions, and e-mail the form to FSIOBCInfoCenter@state.gov. While we might know who you are from the e-mail address, we keep all identities confidential, and results are posted completely anonymously.

Personal Post Insights are for viewing by U.S. Government employees and their family members considering an overseas assignment only. They are not available to the general public. If you are a U.S. Government employee, family member or worker under Chief of Mission authority, and cannot access the State Department intranet:

  • Ask a spouse, friend, CLO Coordinator, or other embassy contact person to go to OBC's Post Info To Go (http://fsi.state.gov/fsi/tc/epb/epb.asp) and e-mail you the Personal Post Insights from the relevant post (they just have to check the box that says "Include PPIs") or
  • E-mail OBC (FSIOBCInfoCenter@state.gov) and ask for the Personal Post Insight of the country you are considering. Please note your U.S. Government affiliation under Chief of Mission Authority and please narrow your list first using other online resources.)
