In its commitment to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities for United States diplomatic missions overseas, the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) established an Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) to ensure that the best possible methods are being utilized to oversee the Department of State’s real property assets. This group of nine, formed under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, is asked to share their knowledge and expertise on industry and academia’s latest concepts, methods, best practices, and ideas related to all aspects of acquiring and building facilities as well as property management.
The panel is appointed by the Director of OBO from nominations solicited from professional organizations and trade groups such as the American Institute of Architects, Association of General Contractors, American Association of Construction Engineers, Building Futures Council, and members of the intelligence community. All members serve a one-year term and meet quarterly at the Department of State.
