Marguerite Coffey is the Director of the Office of Management Policy, Rightsizing and Innovation (M/PRI). She served in the former Office of Management Policy for the past eight years and became Director of the new M/PRI on December 19, 2007, appointed by the Secretary of State to the rank of Assistant Secretary-equivalent.
Throughout her career, Ms. Coffey served in various Department management organizations: Administration; Consular Affairs; Diplomatic Security; Information Resource Management; and Management Policy. She served as Executive Director of IRM and also managed the Department’s information technology strategic planning process. She completed the Senior Executive Service (SES) Development Program in 2004 and did her candidate developmental project at the Foreign Service Institute’s School of Leadership and Management.
In December 1998, Ms. Coffey joined M/P as the Project Director for the Department’s 1999-2000 Emergency Security Appropriation. She was named Deputy Director in February 2002 and Managing Director in 2006. She is a member of the Career SES and has been involved in the Department’s Civil Service Mentoring program since its inception in 2002. Ms. Coffey also serves as a member of FSI’s adjunct faculty and frequently participates in management seminars and classes as a guest speaker. She served on three Department transition teams in 2000,2004, and 2008.
Ms. Coffey has a Masters of Public Administration degree from the American University in Washington, D.C. and a Bachelor of Arts degree from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
