Todd J. Moss

Todd J. Moss became Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of African Affairs on May 14, 2007 where he covers economic policy issues and West Africa.
Prior to joining the U.S. Department of State, Dr. Moss was Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development. His work there focused on US-Africa relations and financial issues facing sub-Saharan Africa, including private capital flows, debt, and aid. He also led the Center's work on Nigerian debt, the African Development Bank, the IDA-15 replenishment round, and the economic crisis in Zimbabwe. Previously, he has worked at the World Bank and the Economist Intelligence Unit and taught at Georgetown University and the London School of Economics.
Dr. Moss is the author of numerous articles and books, including African Development: Making Sense of the Issues and Actors (Lynne Rienner, 2007) and Adventure Capitalism: Globalization and the Political Economy of Stock Markets in Africa (Palgrave Macmillan, 2003). He holds a PhD from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a BA from Tufts University.
