U.S. Humanitarian Aid to Somalia
(Mar. 19): The United States is the leading donor of humanitarian assistance to Somalia, with more than $156 million USD provided over FY 2006 – 2007, and $74 million to date in FY 2008.  Fact Sheet | PDF

Designation of Al-Shabaab
(Mar. 18): On February 29, 2008, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice designated al-Shabaab as a Foreign Terrorist Organization under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (as amended) and as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist under Section 1(b) of Executive Order 13224 (as amended). Additional U.S. Contribution to Refugees and Conflict Victims in the World
(Jan. 31): The U.S. Emergency Relief and Migration Assistance (ERMA) Fund is a no-year appropriation that is drawn upon to meet unanticipated refugee and migration emergency needs whenever the President determines that it is important to the national interest to do so. ERMA provides critical flexibility to respond on a timely basis to emergency refugee and migration crises around the world.  Full text
