USUN Press Release
New York, New York June 15, 2007
Reply by Ambassador Richard T. Miller, U.S. Representative on the Economic and Social Council, to the United Nations, in connection with the adoption of resolution A/61/L.61 entitled The Ethiopian Millennium, in the General AssemblyMadame President,
The United States did not participate in the adoption of the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity and is not in a position to affirm or reaffirm that document in its entirety. We are in a position, however, to affirm, as called for in this resolution, "its appeal for greater solidarity on the basis of recognition of cultural diversity, awareness of the unity of humankind and the development of intercultural exchanges."
Thank you, Madame President.
