Outcome of Travel to Asia
Ambassador Bosworth (May 12): "I think everyone is feeling relatively relaxed about where we are at this point in the process. There is not a sense of crisis. We acted together in a strong fashion in the United Nations with the Security Council Resolution, and now I think we are going to proceed with patience and perseverance." Full Text | View Video

An interagency delegation traveled to Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo and Moscow for consultations with counterparts from China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Russia on North Korea issues. The delegation was led by Special Representative for North Korea Policy Ambassador Steven Bosworth.

The delegation departed Washington for Beijing on Wednesday, May 6, arriving on May 7. They proceeded to Seoul on Friday, May 8 and arrived in Tokyo on Monday, May 11. Ambassador Bosworth returned to Washington on May 12th, and the rest of the delegation proceeded to Moscow returning to Washington on May 14. Ambassador Sung Kim, Special Envoy for the Six-Party Talks, is a member of that delegation.
