Biography of Judith (Judy) G. GarberBureau of European and Eurasian AffairsWashington, DC Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Director, Office of North Central Europe, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Judy Garber assumed her duties as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs in October 2007. In this capacity, Ms. Garber oversees bilateral relations with Nordic, Baltic, and Central European countries. Prior to this position, she served as Director of the Office of North Central Europe which oversees U.S. relations with the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Slovenia. Prior to joining the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Ms. Garber served in the Department's Economic Bureau as the Director for Development Finance, working with the multilateral development banks, Millennium Challenge Corporation, Export-Import Bank and Trade and Development Agency on development policy, and donor coordination issues, including Haiti reconstruction, tsunami relief, and Pakistan earthquake reconstruction. She has also served in Spain, Prague, Mexico City and Tel Aviv, following assignments in the Department's Secretariat and the Bureau of Economic Affairs. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Ms. Garber worked at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and the Department of the Treasury.
