Visit of President Vaclav Havel of the Czech Republic

President Bush will welcome President Vaclav Havel of the Czech Republic to Washington on September 18. President Havel is a lifelong proponent of democracy and was a leader in the fight for freedom in Central and Eastern Europe.

The Czech Republic is a close friend and ally of the United States and stands by the United States in the war on terrorism. President Havel shares the President's vision of creating a Europe whole, free and at peace and will host the upcoming NATO Summit in November.
