Croatia Apprehends War Crimes Indictee

Bruce E. Connuck, Political Counselor of U.S. Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe
Statement to the OSCE Permanent Council
Vienna, Austria
April 10, 2003

Released by the U.S. Mission to the OSCE

(As delivered)

Thank you, Mr. Chairman. We commend the Government of Croatia for apprehending on April 6 the fugitive Bosnian Croat Ivica Rajic, indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia for ordering a deliberate attack on Muslim civilians in central Bosnia in 1993. We expect that the Government of Croatia will transfer this indictee expeditiously to The Hague. We urge all governments in the region to apprehend all persons indicted for war crimes, including Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, and transfer them to the Tribunal to face the charges against them. Thank you.
