Ambassador Arvizu (Jan. 22): "This was a dramatic setback, and one from which the country needs to recover.
"The violence that we witnessed was not necessary. It was not inevitable. It could have been avoided. And it must be prevented from happening again, for the sake of all Albanians.
"Progress needs to be made in the fight against corruption in order for Albania to realize its full potential.
"Violence in the streets of the capital or elsewhere in Albania is not going to resolve the problem of corruption in Albania.
"What Albania desperately needs at this moment is political leadership.
