Jones Day Hosts Reception with Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor

The Washington DC office of the international law firm, Jones Day, hosted a reception in honor of visiting Afghan women jurists on January 22, 2009, with former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor as the special guest. The event attracted over 150 individuals from both the public and private sectors, including prominent judges, lawyers, diplomats, and representatives of business and academia. Justice O'Connor praised the women for their example, courage and dedication. The event highlighted the very real life-and-death struggle faced by Afghan women professionals in their quest to help create a just, rule-of-law society with equality and security for all Afghan citizens.
