The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Organization Affairs sponsors qualified U.S. citizens for participation in the United Nations Associate Expert (AE) program. This program recruits American citizens under a bilateral agreement between the United Nations (UN) and United States government to work for the Secretariat on projects that promote international peace and security and economic and social development.
