United Nations Competitive Examination

To be given only to U.S. citizens seeking junior professional posts (P-2 level).

EXAMINATION CRITERIA (all must be met)

1.  Be a citizen of the United States of America.

2.  Be no more than 32 years old as of December 31, 2005.

3.  Have at least an undergraduate degree (advanced degree is a definite advantage) in one of the following occupational fields or related areas:

  • Administration
  • Finance
  • Human Rights
  • Humanitarian Affairs
  • Public Information
  •  Social Affairs

4.   Be fluent in English or French, the two working languages of the     Secretariat.  Knowledge of additional official languages of the UN (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is a definite advantage.

NOTE:    A maximum of 50 individuals will be allowed to take the exam  per occupational group.  If applicants exceed 50, only the most qualified will be selected.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  September 17, 2004
