The Getty Conservation Institute (CGI)The Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) is a program of the J. Paul Getty Trust, an international cultural and philanthropic institution devoted to the visual arts that also includes the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Research Institute, and the Getty Foundation. The mission of the GCI—which began operation in 1985—is to enhance and encourage the preservation and understanding of objects, collections, architecture, and sites by addressing unanswered conservation questions, demonstrating best conservation practice, and contributing to the development of sustainable conservation solutions. The Institute works internationally to advance conservation through scientific research, field projects, education, and the dissemination of information.
