An experienced association executive specializing in public policy, legislative advocacy, and strategic planning on behalf of community college boards, Brown is a nationally recognized authority on community college policy, contributor to national publications, and speaker before a broad range of audiences.
Currently serving as Vice President for Public Policy & Strategic Planning with the Association of Community College Trustees, Washington, D.C, Brown leads the public policy and federal relations team and is responsible for directing advocacy efforts on behalf of the more than 6,500 elected and appointed officials who govern the nation's community, junior, and technical colleges. In addition to representing community college boards on Capitol Hill and before federal agencies and The White House, Brown works to strengthen the strategic connections between community college boards and the array of national and state organizations important to enhancing and bolstering the mission of community colleges. He has worked in Washington for more than 23 years in governmental and public affairs positions in higher education and public telecommunications.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Maryland at College Park. Brown is married and the father of two school-age daughters.
