Q: How many copies and to whom should I send my material?
A: Submit 3 hard (paper) copies and 1 soft (electronic PDF or Word document) to the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO. Due to mail delays, please send via FedEx or DHL.
Q: For the three essay questions, the limit given is 1000 words, is this for each essay or total?
A: This is total. Each essay should be approximately 333 words each.
Q: Do I need original photograph/signature/official transcripts for all 3 copies of the application?
A: Yes, for the 3 hard copies of the application please have an original photo, signature and official transcript. It is recommended to order an extra transcript for you to open and scan in to include with your electronic application. Completed application packages are preferred as to sending material piecemeal.
Q: For question #16 on the application, what type of papers should I list?
A: Include any substantive thesis papers relevant to UNESCO subject areas, education, natural science, social science, culture, and communications or any paper relevant to the management of an international or public institution. Please divide your list of published papers into: archival journals, peer reviewed, and non-peer reviewed.
Q: If I am graduating in May/June 2009 can I still apply for the 2009 YPP?
A: Yes; the start date is anticipated to be Spring 2009. If you are not available to start working in Spring/Summer 2009 or will graduating after that please wait until next year.
Q: Can I enter the YPP program at age 30 or do I need to be 29 at the start date?
A: All applicants must be under thirty years of age as of 31st December 2008. If you turned 30 before this date your application will be disqualified.
