Reuters soundbites:
Ambassador Cunningham (Dec. 4): "In the last 24 hours or so, we have been working with the Israeli government to provide information and advice and to understand how best we can contribute to dealing with the challenge posed by the fire in Carmel. We've been providing information, mapping and projections to determine the extent and the direction of the fire."
"The arrival tonight, the plane tonight, is the first arrival on the ground of American assistance to the effort. Twenty metric tons of fire retardant chemicals and another plane will be arriving in the 20 or 25 minutes and more will be coming in tomorrow and the next day bringing in more assistance as well as a technical team. As you know we have a lot of expertise in dealing with fires of this type and we will be brining in a technical team that will provide expert advice on how to finally deal with the fire."
