Ambassador Karl W. Eikenberry: "The award of a 511 million U.S. dollar contract to expand the United States Embassy... this latest award marks the continuation of a very important project that we started earlier this year, the construction of additional permanent facilities that will provide necessary office and living space for our embassy personnel."
"It is a very substantial United States investment in construction and it is the Kabul embassy here and the Mazar and Herat consulates is an indication, as I said in the start, it is an action it is a deed that you can take as a long term commitment of the United States government to the government of Afghanistan."
