First, Qatar and Afghanistan need to be in direct contact with one another, and I certainly appreciate the deputy foreign minister's welcome to a delegation for Qatar to come here to Afghanistan to consult on this very important issue. And secondly, for an office to open, we also need to have a clear statement by the Afghan Taliban against international terrorism and in support of a peace process to end the armed conflict in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan and the US support a peace process for Afghanistan. Efforts being made with Qatar to open an office for the Afghani Taliban need now to move to enable a conversation among Afghans for peace.
