Opportunities for Exchange Resources

The unique public-private Partnership for Prosperity initiative was launched by U.S. President George W. Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox in September 2001 to target economic development in the areas of Mexico which generate the most emigrants based on the premise that no Mexican should feel compelled to leave his home for lack of economic opportunity.

The free exchange of ideas and experiences across national, academic and cultural boundaries promotes understanding as part of the Partnership for Prosperity initiative, and U.S.-Mexico relations.  The following are resources to advance such understanding:

  • The U.S. Department of State History, Education and Culture page is a great place to start when searching for study abroad and exchange programs, grants, and career opportunitites.
  • The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City lists academic and cultural issues and opportunities in Mexico.
  • The U.S. Agency for International Development and the Partnership for Prosperity have created the TIES Initiative, a public-private alliance designed to spur social and economic growth in Mexico by supporting institutional strengthening in higher education via university linkages, educational programs and scholarships.
